Columbia/Adair County Water Commission

Construction is complete on the $14.5 million water plant and it is producing water to serve the needs of Columbia Utilities and ACWD.     This new facility will serve the water needs of Columbia Utilities and Adair County Water District customers with excess water for future growth and the ability to serve other water utilities.

On May 30, 2008, a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the opening with over 300 people in attendance.  Local dignitaries were in attendance, including U.S. Mitch McConnell and Senator Vernie McGaha and former Rural Utility Service Administrator and Adair County's own, Hilda Legg.  All of the individuals were very instrumental in helping to obtain funding for this important project.

The Columbia/Adair County Water Commission is served by a five member board that is appointed by Fiscal Court.  Representatives of Columbia Utilities, Adair County Water District and an appointee of  the Fiscal Court serve on the Board.   The current board is:

Rudy Higginbotham, Chairman

Junior Brown, Vice Chairman

Robert Flowers, Secretary/Treasurer

Danny Downey
